BigFix L3 Engineer – Patching

Role Summary Responsible for managing and executing patching activities in HCL BigFix, ensuring safe staged rollout from sandbox → pilot → production across large enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities Plan and execute middleware (pilot) patching waves for Windows/Linux/Unix/DB/Middleware endpoints. Create and manage baselines, fixlets, and custom actions for pilot patching. Perform pre-checks, deployment, post-patch validation, and rollback handling. Coordinate with application/infra teams to finalize pilot device cohorts. Troubleshoot patch deployment issues (relay, client logs, download failures). Monitor compliance dashboards, pilot wave telemetry, and exception requests. Escalate critical patch failures and provide RCA with corrective actions. Integrate patch process with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) for RFC/approval.
