Operating Engineer, Class 3

Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Engineer or designate, successful candidates will be responsible for performing the duties required of an Operating Engineer CLASS 3 (CL3).

What will you be doing?

• Operating Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) Powerhouse equipment.
• Operating heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, including ventilating fans, refrigeration compressors, pumps, steam and hot water boilers, both oil and gas, hot water heating systems, chilled water, and DX (Direct Expansion) air conditioning systems.
• Ensuring that the equipment is operated safely and efficiently according to written procedures or verbal instruction and instituting corrective action when necessary.
• Testing operating and safety controls, such as pressure switches, pressure relief valves, thermostats, control valves, traps, etc., to ensure that they are performing properly.
