System Administrator

Position description

Reporting to the Network Manager, the System Administrator is part of a team responsible for the maintenance of the University’s networked systems including the evaluation, installation and maintenance of systems and software; troubleshooting network software and hardware; configuration and maintenance of network devices (servers, routers, switches, wireless); and assisting the Network Manager and providing back‑up as required. Works with external customers and partners to manage and maintain shared infrastructure systems. Responsibilities will also include working with faculty to provide application support and software installation.

Position Responsibilities

• Working with network manager to plan, design and evaluate new projects and modifications to existing systems.
• Primary responsibility for installation and maintenance of virtual machine infrastructure software components and cloud computing environments.
