Two R&D Engineers

Overview

The ATOMEL project, led by Dr. Ali Afzalifar at Aalto University, is a 18‑month Research‑to‑Business endeavour focused on converting an academic innovation in Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) for thin‑film characterization and metrology into a startup aimed at the semiconductor industry. We are looking for two R&D engineers with complementary skill sets. The positions will start in September2026.

Position1: R&D Engineer – SPM Instrumentation & Control Systems

Responsibilities:

• Lead hardware optimisation and real‑time control system development for the ATOMEL platform.
• Integrate force sensors into the measurement head for simultaneous force and current tracking.
• Set up, program, and tune PLL controllers to manage resonance frequency, amplitude, and phase shifts during sample contact.
