Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and welding diagrams to determine the specific welding requirements
• Set up and operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in accordance with appropriate safety procedures
• Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels etc.
• Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods and fluxes according to the specifications
• Inspect grooves, angles and gap allowances with micrometers, calipers and rulers in order to meet the required specifications
• Monitor the fitting, burning and welding processes to avoid problems such as overheating of parts or warping, shrinking or expansion of material
• Repair machinery parts according to drawings without affecting their original strength
